Otherwise known as BOTOX, simply put a muscle relaxant is a purified protein, which blocks the receptor on the surface of the muscle of which it is injected.
This prevents the contraction of the muscle and gives you a much softer look.
Most people wanting this treatment are looking to reduce their visible creases, lines and wrinkles, such as;
- Brow lines/frown lines: These are often vertical and occur between the brows when
frowning, something that happens often subconsciously even when talking.
- Periorbital lines (crows feet): These are produced when laughing or forcibly closing the eye.
- Forehead/worry lines: Horizontal lines that occur when looking up, or widening our eyes in a surprised expression.
In time, creases in all of these areas will become permanently visible. Treatment with muscle relaxants will soften the creases and repeated treatments will minimise the development of further creases. An additional effect of treating a combination of these areas can achieve a brow lift giving a more awake refreshed look.
You will begin to see effects in 2 days with the maximum effect being 2 weeks. A follow up appointment will need to be arranged 2-3 weeks post injection to offer a free top up if deemed necessary
The effects of the muscle relaxant is almost certain to last 3-4 months.
Please note: Your skin condition and hydration has a vital part to play in the prevention of creases, wrinkles and fine lines.

The majority of dermal fillers consist of a sugar-based substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is naturally occurring within our skin already. Water binds to HA and gives us volume and lift. Dermal fillers are very safe when used correctly and by medically trained practitioners.
The level of HA in our skin decreases with age. Beginning in our late teens and rapidly increasing from age 30. This explains why we have a ‘baby face’ in our teens and our looks mature and define throughout our 20s (when we look our best). With a small amount of dermal filler we replenish the HA which adds volume and lifts areas of your face, achieving a closer representation of your face when you were younger.

Depending on the product used normally a dermal filler treatment will last 9-12 months. As with anything, this treatment is to hide creases, lines and wrinkles. If you couple this with a personalised skin care regime your skin will become more hydrated. Reducing the development of more unwanted signs of aging ahead of your next treatment

Chemical peels are a dermatological treatment designed to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. This procedure involves applying a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the outer layers to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin underneath is usually smoother, less wrinkled, and may have a more even tone. Chemical peels are commonly used to address various skin concerns, including acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.
There are different types of chemical peels, categorized by their depth of penetration: superficial, medium, and deep peels. Superficial peels, also known as "lunchtime peels," use mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of skin. These peels require little to no downtime and can be repeated more frequently. Medium peels, often using trichloroacetic acid (TCA), penetrate deeper into the skin and are effective for treating moderate wrinkles, pigmentation, and sun damage. These peels typically involve a recovery period of a few days to a week. It's essential to have a thorough consultation before undergoing a chemical peel. I can then assess your skin type, concerns, and medical history to recommend the most appropriate type of peel and tailor the treatment to your specific needs.
Post-treatment care is equally crucial, as the new skin is particularly sensitive and requires diligent sun protection and moisturizing to ensure optimal results and minimize complications..
